We want a fat grilled cheese and some Campbell’s Tomato Soup pronto. Andy Warhol, an American artist who pioneered the visual art movement known as pop art, graces the world with his presence yet again – well his time-honored work that is. For those of you confused, Andy was played by David Bowie in the Basquiat film – “….does it make your nipples go pointy Bowie?”
Early December, Converse proclaimed an official collaboration with the Andy Warhol estate to reimagine a few of the pop artist’s most famous prints to the vintage canvas silhouette of the Chuck Taylor. Encompassed in Andy’s phenomenally recognized pop art, Converse’s high-tops/low-tops maintain an exquisite medium for an array of Campbell’s Soup cans – by an array we mean 4 different combinations of Andy’s glorious work on the Chuck T’s. Most of the work found in the Andy Warhol x Converse Chuck Taylor Collection was actually displayed in New York’s MOMA for quite some time, some of which may still be there but we haven’t been out east since 2008.
Simple but enthralling, the Andy Warhol x Converse Chuck Taylor Collection is a crucial addition for the avid Chuck collector, even if you’re not excessively stoked about them. The brilliant collaboration is available now for $95 (USD) via select stockists and premier retailers, such as WishATL.
