This past weekend, the latest edition of Audio Corroboree took Ukiah, California by storm with smashing sets from the LowRIDERz and ill.Gates, and the Ahoodie crew was there to capture the magic. Set inside the organic confines of The Ukiah Brewing Company, Audio Corroboree marked the latest event from Mendo Tribal Werkz, which is spreading the gospel of big fat bass across Northern California.
Carly D warmed up the crowd with an opening set as beat freaks and locals gathered to see headliner the LowRIDERz. Hailing from San Francisco, LowRIDERZ is comprised of Antennae (who you may remember the SoundCloud Roundup) and DJ Laura Low. Both have made names for themselves across the US, so with these two combining forces you knew they would bring a heavy dose of sexy mixed with a side of ganksta. And there was definitely plenty of sexy to go around. Playing a set packed full with some of the most gutta edits and tracks like Too Short and E-40’s club banger ‘Drop It Low,’ the LowRIDERz had the brew co crowd squeezing asses and cracking smiles through their hour and a half set. Easily the biggest moment of the night came during the LowRIDERz set when the crowd lost their minds to a bass-filled remix of Tyga’s ‘Faded’ followed by a remix of Mr. Everywhere-right-now, A$AP Rocky’s ‘Peso.’
Toronto’s ill.Gates followed the LowRIDERz with his own set of brilliant music including tons of original productions and remixes including ‘My Special Place‘ from his ill.Methodology album (go get a copy NOW). Easily one of my favorite tracks from that album, ill.Gates summed up just what makes the song special, “‘My Special Place’ is a warm, personal and timeless song.” I’d like to agree. But don’t think that crunchy beats were the only trick Gates had up his sleeve. I peeked behind his setup to notice that he showed up in a pair of Jeremy Scott Adidas Originals Streetballs — now that’s swag. At this point, the organic beers and cocktails had gotten to everyone as the capacity crowd continued to scrub the ground to the dirty bass until the lights come on and reality came charging through.
And just to give you a little taste of what the night was like, make sure you stream and DOWNLOAD Antennae’s g’d up remix of SchoolboyQ & A$AP Rocky’s ‘Hands on the Wheel’ below. See what we’ve been saying? It pays to read Ahoodie.
Overall, Audio Corroboree was a smashing success and everyone left a little bit more sloshy and a lot more happy than when they entered. Check out more pics from the event below and make sure you check back here on the regular for more event coverage from the Ahoodie crew. We’ll see your asses at Coachella next weekend.
