Well it looks like all the hype is for real. Today we bring you the official images of the Nike Air Yeezy 2 via our friends at Streething. The Yeezy 2 saga began more than a year ago with a few quick shots of the shoes in Kobe Bryant’s The Black Mamba film from Nike. From there, the hype has grown and grown as we got some clearer shots of the Yeezy 2 following his jaw-dropping performance at last year’s Coachella festival. Since then we’ve seen the Kobe VII inspired cheetah makeup, a black/solar red colorway and this wolf grey/pure platinum, which will be replacing the zen grey makeup from the Yeezy 1 release. According to our buddy, The Shoe Wolf, the Yeezy2 will release in three colorways in the US with two more colorways to be exclusively released in Asia and Europe. Only time will tell if those rumors prove true.
While we don’t have concrete release information from the folks at Nike, it has been rumored that these will hit the US on April 13 with a European release preceding that on April 12. If you ask some folks, it’s NEVER too early to start camping for the only shoes that may eclipse the galaxy foamposite release earlier this year. In fact, check out the YouTube video below of some kids in Los Angeles who have been camping for the Yeezy 2 since the end of February. Yeah, that’s not a typo.
Inspired by Egyptian Mythology, the Yeezy 2 features a rah logo on the tongue while the underside of the strap also features more hieroglyphics. We’re not certain what all these glyphs mean, but we know they look pretty freakin ganksta. Some of the other details on the shoes include glow-in-the-dark soles, premium leather around the heel with a dragon-like pattern, metal lace tips and a special bag. Once again, the release date isn’t confirmed from Nike, but it’s believed to be around April 13 in the US. Check out the pics and style code below and save up you money because these come with a $250 suggested price tag — and you know resellers will suck you dry.
