The best of both worlds. No, we’re not talking about another CD from Jay-Z and R. Kelly — although we still ride hard for the Pied Piper aka Kels. We’re actually talking about the latest hybrid to come from Nike SB x Nike Sportswear, the Air Max 90 x Eric Koston 1. If you recall last year, the Koston 1 got the hybrid treatment when it combined forces with the Kobe 6 for a special vault release that totaled just 24 pairs prior to the quickstrike general release shortly thereafter. This time the classic Air Max 90 is the ‘costume’ for this hybrid model that doesn’t have a concrete release date yet. So far, the only images we have are some grainy catalog scans via our buddies at n-sb.org. As with most catalog scans, these usually are given to shops and retailers prior to a shoe’s release to determine orders, quantity, etc. So we can assume that these will be hitting retail within the next six months if everything goes to plan.
Slated to be available in a grey/red and a black/volt makeup, this AM90 x Koston 1 hybrid pay homage to one of the greatest running shoes ever created, which also happens to be a favorite of skate legend Koston. The grey pair features red accents including the tongue tag and the AM90 ‘shield’ on the back. The final red hit comes from the ‘Air Max’ panel on the side that reads “Eric Koston” in the same typeface. Because these are catalog scans, it’s hard to determine if the color used will lean more toward a true varsity red or the bright infrared shade seen on the original ‘Infrared’ AM90s. We’re hoping it’s more toward infrared. It appears that stitching is used to create the shape and look of the original AM90 body on the Koston 1 including the famous lace panels. The black pair features similar color blocking to that of the grey pair with volt hits on the ‘shield’ on the heel and the ‘Air Max’ panel on the side.
Wet your appetite with these catalog scans below and make sure you stick with Ahoodie for more details regarding this release.
