If you’ve been gaming since the early ’90s, this new Nintendo 3DS XL makeup is for you. This limited-edition release is inspired by the Japanese version of the SNES known as the Super Famicom. While most games for Super Famicom (slide 3) were ported over to the SNES, there’s still something so baller about that red, yellow, blue and green button scheme. Knowing it’s a legendary system, Nintendo dressed up it’s all-new 3DS XL like the vintage system. Everything you remember from the OG is there. The grey plastic. The power, eject and reset buttons. You name it.

But the blast-from-the-past design isn’t the only thing retro about the new Nintendo 3DS XL. Whether you purchase the limited, overseas edition above or not, the system plays old school SNES games such as Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country. Titles like those will become available exclusively through the Virtual Console on the New 3DS and New 3DS XL handheld systems. And if Super Famicom isn’t your thing, there’s plenty of special editions coming including a special Pokemon edition available in blue and red. Genius right?

As far as we know, the Super Famicom edition of the 3DS XL is slated for a Japan-only release in April, and will retail for about $190 USD. Time to call up your plug in Japan.
