In 2012 it seems like everything old is new again. With Nike SB recently releasing pseudo-retro versions of some their classic shoes like the ‘Sea Crystals,’ ‘Lodens’ and others, this upcoming release for 2012 has hit the Internet like a ton of bricks. It was just 10 years ago (that long really?) that Supreme and Nike SB collaborated on a pair of Dunk Lows inspired by famous Jordan III makeups such as the ‘Black Cements’ and the ‘True Blues’ and it appears both companies are looking to strike lightning twice. For those who forget, the original Supreme x SB dunk release pretty much began the Dunk mayhem of the early 2000s, which lead the way for the campouts and insanity that followed almost all SB releases for a decade. Remember the ‘Pigeon’ release at Staple? They haven’t forgotten either.
While not a true retro, the makeup for this year’s release looks eerily familiar as the world-renowned elephant print appears around the toebox, lace eyelets, and ankle — just like their counterparts a decade ago. The biggest difference comes in the rest of the shoe that features varsity red throughout the upper with black laces and a black swoosh capping off the colorway. This time around, you’ll find Nike SB branding on the tongue and insole as well as a special Supreme hangtag, which we’ve grown to expect from most Supreme x Nike SB releases. As of now this is the only image of the shoe in circulation, which was taken from the latest Shoes Master publication via Lacebag.
