The must-see show of 2015 returns this July, and we’ve got the Mr. Robot Season 2 trailer on deck today. If you aren’t familiar with Mr. Robot, then you’ve got two months to catch up on season 1 via USA Network’s website. We’re not joking either. This show is that good. I started watching last year from the premiere on, and essentially it was the best show of 2015 — and that includes Season 2 of Fargo, which was also some of the best programming ever.
Without giving away too much of S1, Mr. Robot is one helluva surreal show, sorta in the same vein as Twin Peaks, but also completely different. The series “follows a young computer programmer who suffers from social anxiety disorder and forms connections through hacking. He’s recruited by a mysterious anarchist, who calls himself Mr. Robot.” Thanks IMDb. Just trust that this isn’t a “hacker story” like the movie Hackers. It’s much deeper.
With that in mind, the Mr. Robot Season 2 trailer picks up shortly after we left the finale. Our star Elliot (Rami Malek) has to deal with the fallout from the actions of fsociety. But what exactly happened in those 72 hours he can’t remember? The trailer doesn’t explicitly answer that (duh), but gives us plenty of insight to where we’re headed. Hell, they’ve even got Obama on deck thanks to some careful editing. We should also mention that your boy Joey Bada$$ is slated for a regular role this season. Pro Era everywhere.
The one thing you can take away from the Mr. Robot Season 2 trailer is that the stakes are higher and answers seem even further away. But that’s what makes this show so great anyway, right? Mr. Robot returns to USA Network on July 13. Get caught up ASAP. You’re missing out on one of the best shows around.
