“I slap a Guardian reporter with a rolled up Echo”.
While the whole world is slowly discovering Grime and duly creaming it’s pants, we turn our attention to Hip Hop; born in America, brought to you by way of England. Sadly, there’s a real lack of rap talent on these shores, but bucking the trend and dropping bars hotter than a cup of tea is Cult Of The Damned, a hip hop super group comprised of Blah Records stable mates.
The collective feel grittier than a pub car park, but juxtapose their everyman vibe with humourous and outlandish lyrics. The beat for their self titled single wouldn’t sound out of place on an early Nas record, so props has to go to Reklews on the production, but vocally this crew is all British, with a sound that harks back to the days of Jehst and Braintax.
